Episode 19: Kat Griffiths

katgriffithsMeet Kat Griffiths, one of six smart women who discuss Doctor Who on the podcast Verity!

As I’m learning as I dive deeper into the local podcasting scene, there are quite a few Edmontonians who are members of multi-host teams located all over the place. Verity! is one such, with two hosts based in Edmonton and the other four in the U.S., Tasmania and Scotland, all brought together by the wonders of the Internet and the bonds of fandom.

Kat is an enthusiastic proponent of “fangirling,” for which she makes an eloquent case in this episode and on her blog. You’ll hear more about that, along with the increasingly diverse universe of Doctor Who podcasts, not to mention the friends, opportunities and even love that podcasting about Doctor Who has brought into Kat’s life.

There’s always a lively discussion going on on the Verity! website, and you can see what they’re up to on Twitter and Facebook as well. And you can catch up to Kat on Twitter as @xanister.

You can also get it on SoundCloud, in iTunes, or on Stitcher.

Here are Kat’s local recommendations:

And a couple of other Doctor Who podcasts that she highlighted:

Plus a shout-out to Rapid Fire Theatre, where she’s been taking improv classes. (Hence the space gerbil reference.)

makesomethingedmontonThis episode is brought to you by Sashiko Studio, where Lynne Fortowsky makes beautiful crafts featuring a 500-year-old form of Japanese stitching. In this episode, you’ll hear Lynne talk about how she fell in love with the art and what others love about it.

Sashiko Studio is one of several local businesses that Make Something Edmonton is highlighting this holiday shopping season. Read more on the Make Something Edmonton blog.
