Episode 20: Lillian Tse

headshotMeet Lillian Tse, whose quest to master the art of making macarons led her to create her food blog, Beyond Umami.

Lillian and her husband, Dan, clearly get great joy from cooking together, and she chronicles their culinary adventures with scientific zeal. You learn a lot from a Beyond Umami post. Her macarons look exquisite, even when they go wrong, and I can confirm that they taste as good as they look. (Don’t worry, I didn’t eat them on mic.) She sells them, too.

You can find Lillian on Twitter (@beyondumami) and on Facebook, too.

You can also get it on SoundCloud, in iTunes, or on Stitcher.

Here are Lillian’s recommendations, some of which she shared on the blog and some of which she mentioned to me later:

Shout-out to Sharon Yeo of Only Here for the Food for first encouraging Lillian to blog. What a legacy Sharon has for nurturing Edmonton’s food-blogging scene.

Lillian also recommended a book by Dianne Jacob called Will Write for Food: The Complete Guide to Writing Cookbooks, Blogs, Memoir, Recipes, and More. And she mentioned Food Bloggers of Canada offers great resources, too.
