Seen and Heard in Edmonton

The hosts of That’s So Maven have been popping up all over lately (partly because of me, about which more later). So let’s begin with them before heading into the usual time-organized roundup.

Andrea Beça will almost certainly make you cry on the latest episode of Pet Sounds, in which she talks about losing her beloved dog Oscar. And Lauren Dary talks to me on Seen and Heard in Edmonton about podcasting and business.

30 to 45 minutes: The new Alberta Craft Beer Guide Cast interviews Don from Brewsters Brewing Co.; German Villegas talks to Darren Cheverie of Chartier about the macho world of restaurants and the toll it takes; and Alex and Trisha at The Broadcast talk to former MLA Heather Klimchuk about what is happening to the PC Party.

30 to 45 minutes: The Well-Endowed Podcast has a couple of stories on women’s history and politics, and a couple more connected to Canada 150; and on Let’s Find Out, Chris Chang-Yen Phillips joins a dogged researcher to honour the first Edmonton police officer to be killed in the line of duty.

30 to 45 minutes: Rayna and Megan from the newly rebranded Kindred talk about female friendships and an upcoming event on that topic; The Press Gallery at the Edmonton Journal explores the political news of the week, including a great screed by Paula Simons on what a mess the justice system is; and on Don’t Call Me A Guru, Linda Hoang and Tyler Butler talk about the uses and abuses of live video.

More 45 to 60 minutes: The Highlevel Showdown looks at the new session of the Alberta legislature and the federal Conservative leadership race; and the Movie Jerks bring in Liam Leroux to be possibly the only people in history to compare-and-contrast Citizen Kane and The Greasy Strangler.

45 to 60 minutes: The Why Show talks to Coun. Scott McKeen about politics, journalism and free speech; On The Hero Protocol, Shane Maio nerds out with MLA David Shepherd about black superheroes; and on the Northern Nerdcast, Dan and Chelsea talk to Cheryl Cottrell-Smith and Kevin Harwood about a new game called The Station.

More than 60 minutes: What It Is shares the audio from its crazy, funny live show at Odd Wednesday; Cups N Cakes celebrates real country music and talks to Napalmpom; Shutter Time with Sid and Mac chats with YouTube star Thomas Heaton; and Allen Featherstone chats with Muy Thai fighter Jordan Dobie.
